Every item is one Markdown file with a fixed set of fields, checked when the site is built. Only published items appear here. Every number cites a source. Media carries a record of where it came from. The timeline lists everything by date, and search covers every published page.
The relationships between the items are on the graph page: a list first, and a drawing of the same links behind a disclosure. A planet-style skin of the collections is a later decision. The list above is always the primary way in.
